Football Game Preview: O'Neill Eagles vs. Lakeview Vikings

The O'Neill Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakeview Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after eight games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

On Friday, everything came up roses for O'Neill against Scotus as the squad secured a 37-7 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 22 points or more this season.

O'Neill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxen Eichelberger, who rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Eichelberger really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Turner Heiss, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of scores.

O'Neill's run defense was locked in: Scotus could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Grady Welke for the heroic effort on defense: he. O'Neill didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.3.

O'Neill's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Welke with two.

Meanwhile, Lakeview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-19 victory over Pierce on Friday.

O'Neill's record is now 8-0. As for Lakeview, their record now sits at an identical 8-0.

O'Neill lost to Lakeview on the road by a decisive 31-14 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Vikings' Brandon Deanda, who rushed for 183 yards and two TDs.
