Basketball Game Preview: Carrollton Trojans vs. Heritage Hawks

The Carrollton Trojans and the Heritage Hawks will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Carrollton turned things around against Westlake on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Lions out 58-55. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Lions are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Heritage entered their tilt with Heritage Preparatory on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 64-27 victory over the Rams. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 34 points or more this season.

Heritage is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Carrollton, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-13.

Carrollton came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 41-39. Does Carrollton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
