Softball Recap: New Oxford Drops Highest Score of Season Against William Penn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Oxford). They blew past the William Penn Bearcats 19-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Colonials have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily Adams was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Adams was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Donnelly, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maura Shirk, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

New Oxford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Penn only posted an OBP of .357.

New Oxford pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for William Penn, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Oxford will square off against Central York at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for William Penn, they will take on Boiling Springs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
