Football Recap: Whittemore-Prescott Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Whittemore-Prescott unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Atlanta Huskies by a score of 62-60 on Thursday. The Cardinals lost against the Huskies in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-12 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlanta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake King, who rushed for 157 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The dominant performance also gave King a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another rusher making a difference was Brett Culham, who gained 151 total yards and five touchdowns.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whittemore-Prescott will face off against Carsonville-Port Sanilac at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Atlanta, they will take on Rogers City at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
