Basketball Recap: East Surry Comes Up Short

East Surry lost against Surry Central last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Surry Cardinals took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Surry Central Golden Eagles.

Despite the loss, East Surry saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JB Davis dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Motsinger, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Surry Central had a senior duo take command as Mason Jewell went 11-for-17 en route to 33 points and Tripp Mcmillen dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Mcmillen has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Damen Hazelwood was another key player, putting up seven points.

East Surry now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Surry Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

East Surry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 82-73 defeat against Maiden on the 25th. As for Surry Central, they have also already played their next contest, an 82-56 loss against North Surry on the 21st.
