Softball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. St. Laurence Vikings

The Lyons Lions will square off against the St. Laurence Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyons has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while St. Laurence will come in with five straight wins.

Friday just wasn't the day for Lyons' offense. They fell just short of York by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since May 5th.

Lyons saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie McLane, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, St. Laurence got the win against Oak Forest on Saturday by a conclusive 7-1. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Laurence pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lyons, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

Everything went Lyons' way against St. Laurence in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lyons made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
