Softball Recap: Santa Ana Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Santa Ana had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies with a sharp 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Santa Ana's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Ana will head out to square off against Westminster at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will venture away from home to take on Loara at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
