Football Recap: Marcos De Niza Starts off Right with Win over Flagstaff + How To Watch

Marcos de Niza took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down the Flagstaff Eagles 46-31. The Padres haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Marcos de Niza had a senior duo take command as Jaeden Lott rushed for 93 yards and three scores on only eight carries and Demetrius Davis rushed for 143 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry.

Marcos de Niza was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Marcos de Niza's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Chase Brown. nine times. In that department, Nikolasi Tongauiha was the leader with 2.5 sacks. Brian Irick was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks and making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Defeat or not, Flagstaff got some senior leadership from Will Carpenter and Brown. Carpenter picked up 166 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Brown threw for 362 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Brown has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Teyan Clerry helped Brown out on the ground, picking up 26 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 46 yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marcos de Niza will take on Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 944 yards in their previous games. As for Flagstaff, they will face off against Paradise Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
