Basketball Recap: Kelvyn Park Takes a Loss

Kelvyn Park was the 52-48 winner over Little Village when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Kelvyn Park Panthers were beaten by the Little Village Phoenix 103-31 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 637th, while the Phoenix are ranked 234th).

Little Village got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenneth Williams out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Resendez, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Kelvyn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Little Village, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Kelvyn Park and Phoenix Military will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Little Village will take on Douglass in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
