Football Recap: Ayer Shirley Takes a Loss

Ayer Shirley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fitchburg Red Raiders. The contest was a 8-8 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Ayer Shirley's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Fitchburg, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.

Ayer Shirley and Fitchburg will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Panthers see the field they'll take on Littleton at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th. As for Fitchburg, their break will end when they face Leominster at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
