Basketball Recap: Furtah Prep Comes Up Short

Furtah Prep has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 62-46 to the Heritage Hawks. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Mead, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Mead has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKari Townsend, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Furtah Prep's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 19-5. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Furtah Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 89-30 victory against Atlanta Jewish Academy on the 6th. As for Heritage, they will challenge Rock Springs Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rock Springs Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
