Volleyball Recap: Cedar Grove-Belgium Victorious

Cedar Grove-Belgium was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sheboygan Area Lutheran Crusaders 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.

Cedar Grove-Belgium took Sheboygan Area Lutheran into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 19-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Brooklyn Cherney was the offensive standout of the match as she had 17 digs and three aces. Those 17 digs gave her a new career-high. Ava Peterson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Cedar Grove-Belgium was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive games.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-4. As for Sheboygan Area Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cedar Grove-Belgium beat the Crusaders by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.
