The West Lincoln Rebels will head out to challenge the Patton Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, West Lincoln didn't have quite enough to beat West Caldwell and fell 5-4.

Gabrielle Wright put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 10.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Wright was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaylin Pardo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run. Kaitlyn Carpenter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, West Lincoln lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post two or more home runs.

Meanwhile, Patton hadn't done well against East Burke recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Patton put the hurt on East Burke with a sharp 16-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Kara Redwine and Jolann Buff did most of the damage at the plate: Redwine scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4, while Buff went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Maines, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

West Lincoln's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Patton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.

Patton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Lincoln has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Patton, though, as they've been averaging 11.7 hits. Given West Lincoln's sizable advantage in that area, Patton will need to find a way to close that gap.

West Lincoln took their win against Patton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Lincoln since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
