Volleyball Recap: United Falls to Rootstown in First Game of Season

United had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Rootstown Rovers by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Rovers: they've now lost six in a row.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, United sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 15-25, 16-14.

When it comes to explaining why United lost, don't look at Baylee Smith. Despite the final result, she had 33 digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

United didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Alliance on the 18th. As for Rootstown, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Newton Falls on the 18th.
