Just as it seemed the balance of power in Millard was shifting toward Millard South's favor, here comes Millard West.

For the second straight week, Millard West knocked off a highly-ranked team as it defeated previously top-ranked Lincoln Southwest 35-17 Friday night to remain unbeaten. In the season-opener, the Wildcats defeated Omaha Creighton Prep handily.

After Taylor Anglemeyer got Millard West on the scoreboard with a 34-yard run, Jake Drwal and Jesse VerVelde connected on a 34-yard touchdown pass to give West the lead at 14-7. Tyler Davis brought back a fumble return 13 yards to give the Wildcats a 21-7 lead just seconds later.

Drwal, who has positioned himself as a potential All-State performer after two games, combined with VerVelde again on a 28-yard touchdown pass to cap off the third quarter scoring for Millard West.

Drwal has 12 receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns already this season for Millard West.
