Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Hillsboro won the last time they faced Cane Ridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. Hillsboro blew past Cane Ridge 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Burros, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Drake McDowell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Hayden was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Gooch, Jr, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Cane Ridge's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will challenge Antioch at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cane Ridge, they will take on Whites Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
