Basketball Recap: New Underwood Falls Despite Big Games from Trevin Walker and Zach Henriksen

New Underwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golddiggers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

New Underwood's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zach Henriksen, who posted ten points and four blocks, and Trevin Walker, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points. Those 12 points gave Walker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Enos, who put up six points.

New Underwood now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lead-Deadwood, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3.

New Underwood will take on Faith in a tournament on Thursday. As for Lead-Deadwood, they will square off against Belle Fourche at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lead-Deadwood has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matches.
