Recap: Southwood Knights vs. Eastern Comets
The Southwood Knights can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They managed a 30-26 victory over Eastern. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southwood also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Southwood was led to victory by Emmerson Chellis and Hali Pershing. Chellis scored 4 points along with 10 rebounds, while Pershing scored 4 points along with 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Chellis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gracie Lambert, who scored 14 points.
Eastern's loss came despite strong showings from Maggie Johnson and Kenzie Degraaff. Johnson scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds, while Degraaff scored 3 points along with 5 rebounds.
Southwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Eastern, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwood will square off against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bluffton will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Eastern will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Madison-Grant at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Madison-Grant and Eastern are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
