Basketball Recap: Johnsburg Central Comes Up Short

Johnsburg Central played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 61-40 to the Seton Catholic Central Knights. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nick Sauer-Jones dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 52.5% of Johnsburg Central's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Michael Mannix was his usual excellent self, going 14 of 35 en route to 33 points for Seton Catholic Central. Mannix has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Oliver Hughes was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points and three blocks.

Johnsburg Central now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Seton Catholic Central, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Johnsburg Central has already played their next game, an 85-53 loss against Wells on the 14th. As for Seton Catholic Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 86-29 win against Willsboro Central on the 14th.
