La Vernia came out on top against Canyon on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Bears put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Bronson Lange made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Vincent Capparelli was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cooper Null, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

La Vernia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

As of now, neither La Vernia nor Canyon have any future games scheduled.
