Baseball Recap: Henderson Victorious

While Henderson's victory against Downingtown West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors skirted past the Whippets 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted against the Whippets since April 2, 2022.

Shane Manuel tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Zach Ward was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Sam Prior also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Henderson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Downingtown West, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Henderson is set to take on their familiar foe Oxford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Downingtown West will square off against rival Downingtown East at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
