Preview: Branchville Yellow Jackets vs. Lake Marion Gators
The Branchville Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Marion Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Branchville kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 71-59 to North. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Lake Marion couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scott's Branch. Lake Marion has struggled against Scott's Branch recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Lake Marion saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Christopher Ferguson, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Miles, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Branchville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lake Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-1.
Branchville beat Lake Marion 67-57 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Does Branchville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Marion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
