Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Carmel

Carmel's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They strolled past the Lake Zurich Bears with points to spare, taking the game 54-38. The win was all the more spectacular given the Corsairs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Bears are ranked 112th).

Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Lake Zurich, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.

Carmel will head out on the road to challenge Marian Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marian Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Carmel surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake Zurich, they will host Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Zurich is facing Libertyville at the right time seeing as Libertyville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
