Softball Recap: Ewing Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Ewing unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the South Hunterdon Eagles by a score of 3-2.

Abby Singer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sydney Mahan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Kim Nguyen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Ewing's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for South Hunterdon, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ewing will challenge Monroe Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Hunterdon, they will take on Voorhees at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
