Softball Game Preview: Hoover Cardinals vs. Crawford Colts

The Hoover Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Crawford Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hoover has given up an average of 19.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hoover is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Mount Miguel, falling 21-5.

Kimberly Soto made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Van Hoang Tuong also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Crawford didn't have quite enough to beat Southwest SD on Friday and fell 8-7.

Crawford has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Hoover suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Crawford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
