La Cueva and Hobbs squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly La Cueva had to settle for second. They suffered a rough 68-44 defeat at the hands of the Hobbs Eagles. La Cueva was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hobbs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
La Cueva's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eva Love, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Love hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Dyer, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
La Cueva's loss dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Hobbs, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 26-3.
La Cueva does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hobbs, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-42 defeat vs. Volcano Vista on the 14th.
