Basketball Game Preview: Freeport Pretzels vs. Boylan Catholic Titans

The Freeport Pretzels will head out on the road to take on the Boylan Catholic Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Freeport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.

Freeport is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Rockford East on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Freeport took a blow against Rockford East, falling 93-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pretzels have suffered since January 10th.

Freeport's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kazion Morehead, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points, and Andrew Seward, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points and six boards. With that strong performance, Morehead is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Kal-El Sims, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Boylan Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat. They fell 35-27 to Belvidere North. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Freeport and nudges their season record down to 11-15. As for Boylan Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-23.

Freeport didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Boylan Catholic when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
