Basketball Recap: Our Lady of the Rosary Lions vs. Hampton Park Christian
The Our Lady of the Rosary Lions lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. Their tough 51-30 defeat to Hampton Park Christian might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Our Lady of the Rosary has scored all season.
Trevor Gearhart was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks for Hampton Park Christian. Gearhart hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Cooper Smith, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Our Lady of the Rosary's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Hampton Park Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Our Lady of the Rosary will challenge the at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Newberry Academy is ranked 222nd, while the Lions are ranked 246th). As for Hampton Park Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
