Baseball Recap: Rocky Mountain Starts Season with Win Against Horizon

Rocky Mountain gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Horizon Hawks as the Rocky Mountain Lobos made off with a 13-0 victory. For the Lobos, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Bradley Mallette was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Erick Jacobson, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Mallette wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rocky Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Rocky Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Legacy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Horizon, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Fort Collins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
