Recap: Dawson Springs Panthers vs. Livingston Central Cardinals
The Dawson Springs Panthers's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 71-63 victory over Livingston Central. Given Dawson Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Livingston Central is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dawson Springs found their leader in underclassman Jaybird Plunkette, who scored 31 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Plunkette has scored at least 25% of Dawson Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Montgomery Johnston, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Dawson Springs is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Livingston Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Dawson Springs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Logan County at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st. Livingston Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heritage Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
