Baseball Recap: Whitehall Takes a Loss

Whitehall had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it five. They came up short against the North Warren Central Cougars, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Railroaders were not able to get on the board.

As for North Warren Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 16-0).

For North Warren Central's part, Owen Scheafer made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Scheafer has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maceo Matson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for North Warren Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Rooker, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Whitehall will be playing at home against Argyle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Warren Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
