Baseball Recap: Seattle Academy Find Success

Seattle Academy proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 35) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Nathan Hale Raiders 8-6.

Cole Becker made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Dashiell Story was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Seattle Academy is undefeated when Story posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Seattle Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nathan Hale only posted an OBP of .353.

Seattle Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Nathan Hale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7-1 record this season.

Seattle Academy will face off against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 4, the Roughriders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Nathan Hale, they will take on Cleveland at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
