Basketball Recap: Kimball's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Kimball hadn't done well against Mitchell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Kimball Longhorns secured a 44-40 W over the Mitchell Tigers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Longhorns as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Kimball's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaleigh Bohac, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 21 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Bohac a new career-high in points. Clarika Hottell was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Kimball smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Mitchell's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Morgan Paetow, who posted 13 points and five assists, and Kate Pieper, who scored 11 points and six boards. Pieper has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Sauer, who earned two points.

Kimball's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14. As for Mitchell, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Kimball has already played their next game (against St. Patrick's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mitchell will challenge Gering at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gering is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season.
