Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Sage Creek's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Sage Creek hadn't done well against Mt. Carmel recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Sundevils 3-1. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 victory the Sundevils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Elijah Stephens made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sage Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

Stephens wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Foster Rovin, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Rovin has posted since back in March.

Sage Creek has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season.
