Basketball Game Preview: Golden West Trailblazers vs. Hanford West Huskies

The Golden West Trailblazers will head out on the road to face off against the Hanford West Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Golden West and 12 for Hanford West dating back to last season.

Golden West is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Central Valley Christian on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Golden West might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Central Valley Christian an easy 61-37 victory. The matchup marked the Trailblazers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-25, which was the final score in Hanford West's tilt against Sanger West on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1093rd, while the Hornets are ranked 534th).

Golden West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Hanford West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Golden West might still be hurting after the 66-41 defeat they got from Hanford West when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Golden West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
