Basketball Game Preview: Sound Christian Lions vs. Evergreen Lutheran Eagles

The Sound Christian Lions will take on the Evergreen Lutheran Eagles in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Sound Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Rainier Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sound Christian blew Rainier Christian out of the water with a 53-20 final score. The Lions pushed the score to 38-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had little chance of recovering from.

Sound Christian can attribute much of their success to Abby Mesler, who went 10 of 24 on her way to 21 points and seven steals, and Bella Swazer, who made all 7 shots she took to post 17 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Mesler a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Brogan, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Evergreen Lutheran put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Puget Sound Adventist to the tune of 45-15. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

The win made it two in a row for Sound Christian and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Sound Christian came up short against Evergreen Lutheran in their previous meeting back in February, falling 38-32. Can Sound Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
