Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gilmer County

Gilmer County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Roane County Raiders with a sharp 13-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 two weeks ago.

Jacob Stewart was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kolten Holbert was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Guage Goodrich was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gilmer County's record is now 14-1. As for Roane County, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-7 record.
