Flagstaff hasn't had much luck against Prescott recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will face off against the Badgers at 7:00 p.m. Flagstaff has given up an average of 48.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Flagstaff challenged Mohave on Friday. The Eagles were outmatched by the Thunderbirds and fell 60-7. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Flagstaff's loss came about despite a quality game from Will Carpenter, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one TD. Carpenter got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 79 yards.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Prescott and Coconino, and Coconino kept the tradition alive. The Badgers took a 42-26 bruising from the Panthers on Friday. While the Badgers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Panthers 12-0.
Flagstaff will need to focus on slowing down Kenny Miller-Terry, one of several Prescott players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Miller-Terry also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass. Giovanni Pugliese was another key player, having thrown for 316 yards and three touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Prescott's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rutger Funk, Gunnar Parra, and Eli Allen, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Coconino's side was Funk, who picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made five total tackles.
Prescott now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Flagstaff, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Flagstaff took a serious blow against Prescott in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 30-3. Thankfully for the Eagles, Uriah Tenette (who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 228 yards and one TD while completing 78.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
