Softball Recap: Merryville Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It was a proper cat-fight when Merryville challenged Vinton on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Panthers have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Shaylee Lott was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abigail Cornes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Merryville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-13. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Vinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

As of now, neither Merryville nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
