Baseball Game Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. Sacred Heart Prep Gators

For the second straight game, Carlmont will face off against Sacred Heart Prep. The Scots will square off against the Gators at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Carlmont needed a bit of extra time to put away Sacred Heart Prep. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Gators. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Scots have posted since April 12th.

Pano Koutoulas and Luke Tofigh did most of the damage at the plate: Koutoulas got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Tofigh went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Tofigh a new career-high. Zach Luzzo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carlmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Sacred Heart Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Carlmont, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
