Softball Recap: Hermon Wins Going Away Against Oceanside

While Hermon put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Oceanside. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Mariners. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Mikelle Verrill made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Simcox, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Johnston, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Hermon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hermon's record now sits at 3-1. As for Oceanside, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hermon will challenge Mount Desert Island at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oceanside, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Belfast at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mariners surely won't give up without a fight.
