Volleyball Recap: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles
Mount Airy lost against Surry Central back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Granite Bears took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles. While the Granite Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Eagles 25-18 in the first set.
Mount Airy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-19.
Surry Central was led to victory by Presley Smith and Kenzie Hooker. Smith had 25 digs and 17 kills, while Hooker had 13 digs and two blocks. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 39 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Wall, who had 21 digs and four assists.
