Recap: Sunnyside Blue Devils vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cesar Chavez, the Sunnyside Blue Devils were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Ironwood Ridge with a 78-72 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
MANUEL MORENO continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Moreno Leyva, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists.
Sunnyside's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will play host again and welcome Rincon/University, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. Cholla knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Ironwood Ridge likes a good challenge.
