Baseball Recap: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Tri-Valley Bears

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chester, Eldred was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Tri-Valley Bears. The Yellowjackets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Mason Mckerrell tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Spannos was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Card, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Eldred's record is now 2-4. As for Tri-Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Eldred will take on Liberty at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.25 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tri-Valley, they will face off against Sullivan West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
