Basketball Recap: Wilby Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Wilby and New London squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Wilby had to settle for second. They were beaten by the New London Whalers 87-47. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Whalers are ranked fourth).

Jayvon Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for New London, dropping a triple-double with 15 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Robinson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashaun Phillips, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 19 points.

Wilby is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14. As for New London, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Wilby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New London, they will face off against Crosby at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Crosby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.3 points per game this season.
