Basketball Recap: Longmont Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Longmont and Windsor squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Longmont had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Windsor Wizards 64-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Wizards: they've now lost five in a row.

Longmont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Levi Varga, who posted eight points. David Valles was another key player, putting up eight points.

It was another big night for Madden Smiley, who went 9-for-12 en route to 21 points and five boards for Windsor. Smiley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was John Backhaus, who shot 43% from the field on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Longmont's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Windsor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-6.

Longmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windsor, they will challenge Dakota Ridge on Friday. One thing working in Dakota Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
