Basketball Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Curie Condors

The Thornton Wildcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Curie Condors at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Thornton turned things around against Hillcrest on Sunday. They secured a 50-45 W over the Hawks. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Hawks are ranked 127th).

Thornton can attribute much of their success to Jordan Maple, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Blanco-Rios, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Curie was able to grind out a solid victory over Voyageur Academy last Sunday, taking the game 70-59.

Thornton's record now sits at 6-11. As for Curie, their record is now 13-5.

Thornton lost to Curie on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2017. Can Thornton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
