Basketball Recap: Monroe-Woodbury Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Monroe-Woodbury and Newburgh Free Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Monroe-Woodbury had to settle for second. They fell 51-40 to the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Goldbacks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 56-51 loss back in February.

Monroe-Woodbury lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jamie Reich, who posted 14 points. Kristopher Bjaelker was another key player, putting up four points.

Monroe-Woodbury's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Newburgh Free Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

As of now, neither Monroe-Woodbury nor Newburgh Free Academy have any future games scheduled.
