Baseball Game Preview: Bellefontaine Chieftains vs. Piqua Indians

Bellefontaine is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Piqua a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Bellefontaine Chieftains will look to defend their home field against the Piqua Indians at 5:00 p.m. Piqua took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellefontaine, who comes in off a win.

Bellefontaine barely beat Indian Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chieftains never let the Lakers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Tuesday. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Chieftains this season.

Spencer Stolly was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Stolly wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sutton Daring, who went 1-for-4 with two runs. Bellefontaine is undefeated when Daring posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Piqua came up short against Kenton Ridge on Tuesday and fell 6-3.

Piqua's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Bellefontaine, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Bellefontaine came out on top in a nail-biter against Piqua when the teams last played back in May of 2017, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Chieftains repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
