Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

The Newport Cubs fell to the Westside Christian Eagles 63-58. The Cubs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Westside Christian, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Newport will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Molalla at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westside Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elmira at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Westside Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
